How to buy a .si domain (cost, rules, renewal)

1. Check the name

Search the name at a registrar that sells .si, such as Dynadot. Our list shows names that were unregistered when we last checked them, with the date. Someone else can register a name at any time, so the registrar's search is the final word.

2. Cost and renewal

At Dynadot, registration was $12.04 for the first year and renewal $13.50 a year when we checked on 2026-10-02; a 2-year registration was $24.07. Prices move with exchange rates. Turn on auto-renew if you want to keep the name.

For comparison, a new .ai has a 2-year minimum ($171 at Dynadot on the same date) and a new .com was $10.88 for one year.

3. Who can register

.si is Slovenia's country-code domain, run by the national registry Register.si (operated by ARNES). Registration is open to people and companies in any country; you do not need a Slovenian address.

A .si name is 2 to 63 characters: letters, digits and hyphens, with no hyphen at the start or end and no two hyphens in a row.

4. Accurate details are required

The registry's terms require the holder's data to be accurate, complete and current, and the EU NIS2 directive requires domain registries and registrars to keep accurate registration data. Incomplete or false details can lead to deletion of the name.

Use a contact email you control yourself. The registry sends official notices, including dispute and transfer notices, to that address.

5. What is public about you

There is no WHOIS privacy add-on for .si. The registry's own WHOIS shows basic holder data: for a private individual only the contact email, for a company its details. Keep that in mind before registering under your personal name.

6. Respect other people's brands

Do not register names that match someone else's brand. The .si dispute procedure lets trademark owners recover names registered or used in bad faith.
