AI is now SI: what happened on 29 September 2026

A US executive order told federal agencies to say 'Super Intelligence (SI)' instead of 'AI'. The facts, the official sources, and what it changed for .si domains.

On 29 September 2026 the White House held a meeting and luncheon on super intelligence. The same day, a US executive order told federal agencies to use the term 'Super Intelligence (SI)' instead of 'AI' in official correspondence, public communications and policy documents.

The White House published the official video of the meeting and a fact sheet on the order; both are linked below. We link to them as sources; we do not host or edit any footage.

Why .si

.si is Slovenia's country-code domain. Read on its own it spells the new abbreviation, the same way .ai (Anguilla) came to stand for artificial intelligence.

The security firm Netcraft reported that new .si registrations overtook new .ai registrations within about a day of the first announcement on 22 September, and that daily .si registrations more than doubled again after the order. Much of the early buying was speculative: about half of the .si names Netcraft saw registered at Dynadot just before the announcement were listed for resale.

What it does not change

A new name for a technology says nothing about any particular domain. Historical .com sales shown on this site belong to a different domain and are not prices or values for the .si. Register a .si because you will use it.
