.si domain rules: WHOIS, accurate data and disputes

buydotsi editorial (PROJECT82 LLC) · Published · Updated

A .si holder must keep accurate contact data, and instead of a privacy add-on the registry itself shows only a contact email address when the holder is a private individual. (Register.si general terms, Register.si data policy, as of 3 Oct 2026) Disputes go to the registry's own ARDS procedure, where a complainant wins only by proving all three conditions in ARDS section 17.3 (ARDS rules of procedure, as of 3 Oct 2026).

FAQ

Is there WHOIS privacy for .si domains? Not as an add-on: Dynadot lists privacy as not allowed for .si. Instead, when the holder is a private individual, the registry publishes only the contact email address. (Dynadot .si, Register.si general terms 13.3, as of 3 Oct 2026)

What does ARDS 17.3 require? A complaint succeeds only if the complainant proves a confusing similarity to a right recognized in Slovenia, no legitimate interest of the holder, and bad-faith registration or use. (ARDS rules 17.3, as of 3 Oct 2026)

Can I use .si WHOIS data to send offers to domain holders? No. The WHOIS terms forbid unsolicited commercial messages, ad targeting and copying or extracting the data. (Register.si WHOIS terms, as of 3 Oct 2026)

What happens if I forget to renew a .si domain? The name enters quarantine for up to 30 days, during which you can still renew it; after that it is deleted and becomes available again. (Register.si general terms 5.4, as of 3 Oct 2026)

Why must my .si contact data be accurate? The registry terms make the holder responsible for accurate, current data, and the EU NIS2 directive requires registries and registrars to keep accurate registration data. (General terms 8.1.1, NIS2 Art. 28)
